Kitchen Porter

Job Summary:

We are seeking a hardworking and reliable Kitchen Porter to support our clients’ kitchen team in the preparation and delivery of meals to residents. You will assist with the day-to-day running of the kitchen, ensuring it remains clean, organised, and functional. This role is essential to the smooth operation of our clients’ care home's dining services.

  • Position: Kitchen Porter 

  • Location: Edinburgh & The Lothians  

  • Type: Full-time/Part-time


Key Responsibilities:

  • Wash dishes, utensils, pots, and pans promptly and efficiently.

  • Ensure the cleanliness and hygiene of all kitchen areas, including floors, surfaces, and equipment.

  • Assist with unloading and storing food supplies and kitchen stock.

  • Support chefs with basic food preparation tasks as required.

  • Properly dispose of waste and ensure recycling protocols are followed.

  • Follow health and safety regulations, including the use of cleaning chemicals and equipment.

  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in line with care home policies.

  • Assist with any other kitchen-related tasks as needed by the kitchen team.

 

Candidate Specification:

  • Previous experience in a kitchen environment is an advantage but not essential.

  • Knowledge of food hygiene and safety standards is preferred.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.

  • Reliable, punctual, and a team player with good communication skills.

  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
