Top Care Industry Trends in 2025

The care industry is continuously evolving. To be equipped for what the future holds, it’s important to understand what is on the horizon.

From technological innovations to staffing demands and new approaches to patient care, here are the top care industry trends in 2025 to watch out for.

A Boom in Care at Home Requirements

In 2024, the UK faced a shortage of over 100,000 carers - and this number is only set to increase.

One of the main reasons for this is that we have an aging population. The UK population is expected to grow by 7% by 2039, and within that, the number of people aged 75 or over is estimated to increase by 85%

Combine this with:

  • High fees for residential care

  • Pressure to free up hospital beds

  • Long waiting lists for community care

  • An increase in the number of people suffering with chronic diseases and long-term conditions

Sources predict 57% more adults will need home care in 2038 than in 2018. In 2025 and beyond, qualified care-at-home professionals will be in higher demand than ever.

To help meet this demand, we launched our Care at Home service in 2024. Our professional nurses and carers are extensively trained to deliver bespoke care packages that put each patient first.

We can support individuals experiencing health issues in a variety of ways, including:

  • Personal Care

  • Companionship

  • Live-in Care

  • Respite Care

  • Overnight Care

  • Palliative Care

  • Post-Hospital Support

Tech-Powered Care Improvements

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is increasingly being used across healthcare and the wider medical field - from medical research to clinical trials, and even in some surgeries!

One of the key ways AI is improving healthcare is through patient management. For example, smart technologies are now used to monitor patient health in real time to improve safety and wellbeing.

These monitoring systems are used in both acute care settings (including hospitals) and community care settings. At Medway Care Services, we use them to provide the highest-quality Care at Home Services.

Using the Birdie app, family members can receive live updates on their loved ones and have complete visibility over the care provided, 24/7 - including when medication has been taken, meals have been eaten, and much more!

Patient-Centred Care

Upcoming changes in healthcare go beyond care services. Our attitude to care is transforming too.

In 2025, we will continue to prioritise developing personal, prevention-led care packages.

Traditionally, care has been provided in hospitals. However, our aging population will grow and change rapidly over the next few decades, so a new model of care is needed.

Rather than working reactively to health issues, we need to treat them proactively.

Personalised, community-delivered care plans and bespoke treatments - delivered in a comfortable home environment - provide a better quality of life for patients and reduce pressure on hospitals at the same time.

When you choose us to deliver your care-at-home package, you become a member of our family. We take the time to get to know you and the patient to create the best care plan for their needs.

High Demand for Skilled Healthcare Workers

Finally, the need for highly-trained healthcare workers isn’t going away.

In 2025, the care sector will continue to face staff shortages, with high vacancy rates negatively impacting service delivery.

Currently in England, over a third of open NHS staff vacancies in England are for nursing roles

It is also estimated that the UK’s social and home care industry will need to employ 440,000 people by 2035 to meet the demand for the services

This means qualified nurses and carers who work for agencies have a real opportunity to help fill these gaps, build diverse professional experience, and work shifts that suit their schedules.

At Medway Care Services, we’re building a team of professionals whose skills are unrivalled in the healthcare industry. Our comprehensive recruitment process ensures we only select individuals who share our values, have a great work ethic, and closely match our client requirements.

We offer flexible shifts, excellent rates of pay, and extensive training for every member of our team, so they feel equipped to enter any care environment and deliver the highest-quality services with confidence and compassion.

It is clear that patient needs, care technology, and care recruitment are going to continue changing in 2025 and beyond.

The Medway team experiences these changes on the front lines of care delivery every day. We will continue to adapt our services to ensure that we can always deliver user-led care that puts every patient’s individual needs first.
